Meet: Marlene Dunlevy | Opal Atlas

There’s always something new to discover at Joshua Tree Trading Post — a fresh maker setting up for the weekend, a new batch of goods laid out on a table, a story waiting behind the next booth. One brand that always catches people’s eye is Opal Atlas, a local favorite created right here in Joshua Tree by Marlene.

Marlene moved to the desert about nine years ago and never looked back. Something about the wide-open sky, the quiet mornings, the way the landscape lets you breathe — it stuck with her. Opal Atlas grew out of that feeling, a love letter to the high desert wrapped up in souvenirs that actually mean something.

She sees souvenirs as more than things you toss in a drawer. To her, they’re tiny anchors to the places you’ve been — reminders of what you saw, what you felt, who you were in that moment. And you can feel that intention in everything she makes.

Her designs show up on patches, hats, magnets, stickers, and other little desert treasures. Simple, cool, and unmistakably inspired by this strange, beautiful place we call home.

If you love Joshua Tree — the colors, the quiet, the grit, the magic — you’ll love Opal Atlas.

Come check out her collection the next time you’re at Joshua Tree Trading Post.

A small way to take the desert with you, wherever you’re headed next.
